Let’s say you have a domain but don’t want to pay for hosting, or maybe you want to park your domain for a bit while you decide on where to buy hosting from. In other words, you want people visiting your domain to be redirected to some other domain. This is easily doable using a service called Cloudflare. If you don’t know how to redirect a domain without hosting, just follow the given steps to do it:
Step 1: Create an account on Cloudflare:
The first thing you need to do is set up Cloudflare on the domain to be used for redirection to some other domain. If you have your domain registered with temok.com, the process becomes even simpler.
All you have to do is to contact support to get your name-servers changed. It is important for you to know and remember that DNS can take up to 24 hours to propagate during this step. Just get the name-servers changed and give it a day or two before checking again.
Step 2: Using Cloudflare, set up a redirect for your domain:
Before you start with this step, make sure that your domain has successfully after the name-server change. If not, contact temok.com, and we can help you out. If it has indeed successfully propagated, you can proceed with setting up a redirect for your domain. To do this, open the Page rules section in your Cloudflare account and set up a rule by clicking on the Create Page rule button.
Now enter the name of the domain or specific IP address to which you wish to redirect your domain’s visitor. You need to click on the forwarding URL. Once there, you will be given two options:
Set up a permanent redirect (301)
Set up a permanent redirect (302)
Once you have selected the option you want to go for, please add the URL of your destination page.
Click on the button “Save and Deploy” That’s it. You are done. Now try typing your domain address in the URL box to see if the redirect is working or not. In case it’s not, feel free to contact Temok, and we will be more than happy to help you out.
