13 Reasons Why You Should Use Best Responsive Web Design

7 min read

There are more than 2 billion smartphone users right now in the world. And the number only continues to grow. Those smartphones aren’t just being used for phone calls and texting. In fact, roughly sixty percent of all searches are being done via mobile technology. If your website isn’t ready for the smartphone you’re already being left behind. To ensure the long-term success of your business, you must make the best responsive web design for your website. There are many reasons you should make a website responsive and, in this article, I have mentioned 13 reasons why making a responsive website is important.

A responsive website design replaces the need to design a separate mobile website for mobile users. You don’t have to design multiple websites for different devices, you can make just a website that automatically scales up or down to adjust the size of the device.

Check out this article to understand the importance of a fully responsive website for your business.

Google Algorithm

Google likes mobile devices as well. In fact, the search engine giant likes mobile devices so much that it included the mobile responsive web design in its latest major algorithm shift. If your site isn’t already responsive to mobile technology, it’s not performing well in the search engines, and that means you’re missing out on organic search traffic.,

As we know Google algorithms focus on the users’ experience and it ranks websites that are more user-friendly. A responsive website increases search engine visibility. To see the responsiveness of the website, Google offers a responsiveness test that helps you have an idea of your website’s responsiveness on different devices.

Customer Experience

If more than half of your clients are using mobile technology to access the web, having them pull up a giant site designed for a laptop isn’t making anyone very happy. Offering them a website that is simple, clean, and easy to use from a mobile device or a laptop is going to be a much better experience for your customers. There is nothing more annoying for users than a non-responsive website, it results in a bad experience and the user will never visit your website again. Having a mobile-friendly and mobile-responsive website helps you to raise website traffic and increase the overall conversion rates.

Consider your target audience. Unless they are in their seventies or eighties, it is likely that they are spending a great deal of time on their smartphones or tablets. That means you’re not cued into your target audience if you’re not already adapting to their preferences. And we all know that media consumers are a selfish bunch – they want it their way or not at all!

Improve Tapping & Remove Scrolling

Again, think of how frustrating it is to try and use a “regular” website on a mobile device. How precisely can you click with your finger on a button designed for a precise mouse on a desktop machine? Probably not very well. Enter the mobile responsive site that allows for larger fingers and, more importantly, tapping. A responsive website means no more zooming pinching, and side-scrolling to see the whole site. The higher responsiveness of the website boosts website conversions, reduces bounce rates, and increases brand awareness.

It’s one thing to scroll down. It’s another thing to have to scroll side to side in order to just view a site that you’re trying to use. Side-to-side scrolling is annoying and nobody likes it on desktops or mobile devices. A responsive site means you’ll never need to think about horizontal scrolling again!

Build More Credibility

Mobile responsive design will help you build more credibility with clients, customers, and other businesses in your industry. With a responsive website, anyone who visits your website through a smartphone will have a suitable experience, and it will also inspire them to see your website as a reliable resource of information, services, and products. Your business will be viewed as relevant and modern. You might offer some of the most valuable, useful, and innovative products in the market, but if your user’s experience on mobile is non-existent or poor, your website will be a digital dinosaur – motivating people to find help somewhere else.

Fluid and Flexible

It’s not just the visitors who will enjoy the simple ease of a mobile responsive site. The new site design is also ideal for you, the owner, and the webmaster. The simple home screens. The clean menu choices. The pared-down images and ads. All of this makes for a more fluid and thoughtful design that winds up more flexibility for you, the builder as well.

Faster Pages Loading and Low Bounce Rate

Mobile users have short attention spans. It is evaluated from the studies that mobile users tend to get annoyed by webpages that take more than 3 seconds to load. If a website is not optimized for tablets and smartphones, navigation will be harder which can irritate the visitors to the point that they will never come back to your site. Make sure that you use modern performance techniques to make your site responsive such as responsive image display and caching will help you to improve the loading speed of a webpage.

An optimized and responsive site offers a better experience for the visitor. So, it is more likely that they will spend more time on your site and explore different areas of the website. Otherwise, if your website is not responsive, it will be difficult for you to keep the visitor engaged and they are more likely to bounce. It can be said that responsive website development helps you to reduce the bounce rate and increase conversions.

Sheer Volume

There are more mobile devices than there are people on earth. More than half of all Americans own a smartphone and that number grows constantly. This isn’t just an American phenomenon. Around 60% of all traffic on your website comes from mobile devices. There are mobile devices and tablets in hands across the globe and the trend isn’t going away. The sheer volume of mobile devices should be shouting at you that it’s time to make a change.

Online Shopping

Any guesses on how many shoppers are making purchases through mobile devices? 62 per cent. That’s way more than half of the mobile phone users clicking BUY on their phone. That’s not even counting how many may be buying things on their tablet. If more than sixty percent of smartphone owners are willing to buy your stuff over their phones, don’t you think you should make it as easy as possible for them?

Online shopping is easier than driving your car to the store and it is easier if you can do it at your home, on your chair, watching TV. Almost 80% of customers use their smartphones regularly for online shopping. And around 70% of shoppers use mobile phones during the holidays. Remember one thing, if your services and products are not easy to view on mobile, you’re definitely missing an opportunity.

Social Media Sharing

Even if you’re not ready to actually buy something, just getting your name out there via social media is considerably more effective using social media. There are not nearly as many people looking at Facebook or Instagram on their desktops as there are people scrolling through social media sites on their mobile devices. If you want your articles, images, cartoons, infographics, and more shared socially, you had best make them as media-friendly as possible!

Around 55 percent of social media is used through mobile devices, sharing links from social sites such as Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, or Google Plus to your site will mean more viewing and traffic of the website from mobile. If you really want to make your social marketing strategy successful and leverage social content sharing, you have to make a responsive web design.

Convenient Searching

80 percent of shoppers use their mobile phones inside brick-and-mortar stores while shopping. They look up reviews, compare shops, and find alternate buying locations. Are you offering reviews and perhaps a cheaper place for customers to buy that special item? If so, you had best be ready for almost every shopper out there to pull your site up on their phone in a moment of decision-making.

One Change Required

On the convenience side of things, if you change your website to be mobile responsive, you need only make that one change. The mobile responsive site will work just as well on a laptop as it does on a customer’s mobile technology. There is no need for two websites. You just need one, well-designed site to handle all of your business and cover all of your website design bases.

Having both mobile and desktop versions of the website is less cost-effective and efficient as compared with making a responsive design that is adjustable to all devices and screen sizes. Two sites for mobile and desktop device mean you have to do everything twice which increase your cost and efforts required for site maintenance and content management. In the case of a responsive website, one site meets your desktop and mobile needs, without demanding any extra resources.

Improve ROI

Additionally, when you only have to dedicate time and energy to maintaining one site, you’re able to design and manage that website well. That should mean a boost in your return on investment. Not only are you no longer investing in multiple sites to try and hit all of your bases, but you’re also designing an updated website that customers will appreciate. And customer appreciation tends to be paid back in dollars. Responsive design can increase sites’ traffic and conversion rates

There are a lot of organizations that have two websites one as their main site and the second is the mobile version of the website. This was very common before responsive designing became the ideal way. The multiple versions of sites are difficult and time-consuming to update and manage.

With a more responsive design, your website will adapt to different devices, offering relevant content and layout that effectively meets the needs of users. It means you only have to manage one website for both desktop and mobile, and you’ll have to update the content just once, irrespective of how different users use your website’s content. That means higher R.O.I and fewer costs for content management.

Access Anywhere

When you consider that 90 percent of Americans bring their phones into the bathroom with them, you can certainly help capitalize on impulsive buying decisions or at least offer a bit of entertainment to a rather captive audience.

If you haven’t updated your website in a while, reworking your site in a mobile responsive doesn’t require much consideration. There is no reason to not utilize the mobile responsive technology to your best advantage. Your customers will thank you.

Conclusion

In this article, I have shared with you some of the major reasons why you should be using responsive web design for your website. To ensure the long-term success of your online business, you have to keep your site responsive, so you become more visible on the search engine. A responsive website design really helps you to improve your conversion rate and reduce the overall bounce rate on your website. You will be able to improve your online customer’s experience and they will consider your website a creditable resource.
